Ford 8.8 for my 05 TJ

I figured I might as well post up some pictures of my 8.8 swap I am working on. The bracket kit I am using is the Artec TJ 8.8 Swap Kit with Truss. I could have built basic brackets my self, but my time is already tight. The axle is getting pretty much everything new. Rotors, brake pads, shoes, wheel bearings as well as new 4.88 gears. (Old are 4.10) Which I installed new bearings for the carrier and new pinion.

looks good what are your plans for the e-brake ?? i'm looking into the lincoln 10.5 disk with the e-brake on the caliper .

I'll probably just make a bracket for it...I'm not familiar with this 10.5 disk your talking about?

Hmm I'm going to look it up. But I'd imagine making a bracket would be easier(and cheaper) than sourcing another set of calipers

Thanks Curt! Yeah this is my first gear job, Ah it has gone pretty well so far. I have been working on it when I have time so a little bit here a little bit there. I'm in the process of making sure everything is good and meshing correctly.

So I finally found the time to get everything completed and got the drive shaft made for it. So far it seems to be going good. Enjoy the pics!

Nice work, nice beefy upgrade but I have to ask.....

With all the work and money you've put into that axle, is that the stock diff cover? I'm not well versed in the 8.8's but I can't see a factory cover standing up well to a rock.

^x2 the stock cover is about the same thickness as tinfoil... well not really but close.

I would recommend that you pick up an aftermarket one or build a guard for it. it will not take the abuse that a d44 cover will.

Nice work BTW. IMO a great upgrade.

also what did you find out about the lincoln caliper?

Coming along nicely Ray, looking at grabbing the same axle for my 2000 Tj and working on it over the winter, need your old gears (4:10), can you save your old ones?

Thanks everyone, haha I knew everyone was going to say something about my tin foil cover

I already had ordered a Riddler one but I didn't have it when I was putting the axle in so I wasn't going to let that stop me. At my 500 mile oil change I'll be throwing it on

@Jak I'm just using the Ford calipers and haven't chose which e-brake cables yet. Perhaps in the future I can switch over to them, just gotta focus and get the front axle re geared now...

@Billy someone already said they wanna buy the 4.10 gears...
