Trooper Marc Diab was member of the Royal Canadian Dragoons based at CFB Petawawa. Marc (Dirtyleb) was also a member of JeepKings.ca. On March 8, 2009,while on patrol in Afghanistan, Kandahar province, Marc made the ultimate sacrifice when the armoured vehicle he was riding in was hit by an Improvised Explosive Device. Since Marc's death many lives have been changed forever. Many of us have made a pledge that Marc will not be forgotten, and I ask all members of Jeepkings to take a moment to remember Marc and all the other's that have fallen. To the Diab family, our thoughts are with you all.

Please keep this post bumped to the top!

    Regards

We lost a great man 5 years ago. Taken from us far too early, Marc made the ultimate sacrifice for our us and he will always be remembered.

Keep this at the top folks. It has been 5 years......still can not believe it....and Marc was only 2 weeks away from coming home to his family, friends and girl friend. He is a true hero and left this world way too early. Let us never forget all that have fallen. RIP Trooper Diab!

    March 8th Trooper Marc Diab

For me, the most telling thing about Marc's character is his CHOICE to join the forces. What I mean by that is he, like all others in Canada, did not HAVE to join the military.

For those who are not aware, Marc was born in Lebanon and came to Canada, with his family, in his early teens. At the time Lebanon required all 18 year old males to perform 1 year of military service. Had Marc's family stayed in Lebanon he would not have been required to serve as he was an only son and by law only sons were exempt.

From spending time with, and getting to know, Marc's family I have learned of their experiences living in Lebanon and how Marc wanted to serve to help make a difference in the lives of others.

Marc lost his life serving others and for that we can always remember him and those who went before and since him.

Along with Marc's family I've had the opportunity to meet Cpl Shane Mitchell who was with Marc when he died. When I thanked Shane for his service he responded by saying he was "just doing his job".

To all of those who served in the past, currently serve, or will serve in the future, thank you for your service; thank you for "doing your job".

I sent a message to Marc's mom this morning and I want to post her response to all who think of Marc and his family, not only today but anytime.

"Thank you so much. God bless you all and your families"
