Need welding nut on broken bolt to extract

Is anyone in the Kitchener area with a welder available to help weld a nut on a broken exhaust manifold bolt so I can pull it out of my block? Cash or beer (or both!).

Removing exhaust manifold on my Mazda and broke a bolt, there’s about 3/8” sticking out of the block. The other 13 came off with impact but I tried to ratchet this one off and busted it. It was liberally PB blasted, I’ve tried heating with Map/Pro, vise grips, bought a stud extractor from PA to not avail. This sucker won’t move and I suspect a nut welded to the stud is the only way to get enough torque on it. Unfortunately I don’t have a welder or any know how about it.

Someone willing to help a brotha out?

an old millwright trick is to use a pipe wrench on the stud instead of vise grips, a pipe wrench will keep biting deeper as more preasure is applied while vise grips will just slip and remove material. btw i have a welder but i'm 1.5 to 2 hours away from kitchener

give it a few raps with a hammer too while turning it with a pipe wrench

another thing that has worked for me is using a left handed drill bit. when the bit bites into the broken stud it will actually unscrew it from the block. most tool suppliers sell them

Thanks man! Good tips. I think this thing needs too much torque for those tricks though. Womp womp.
