Opar Rear Bumper with tire carrier

Man these jeeps are addicting, just bought my second TJ. It has a rear bumper with the tire carrier, it is made by Opar but I can't find the rating on it. Does anyone have experience with this bumper or know what it is rated for? I would like to use my dirt bike carrier with it.Click image for larger version.

Looks similar to a smittybilt. The weak point on TJ bumpers though is frequently not just the hitch itself but the way it attaches to the frame. There are 8 small bolts going through a stamped steel crossmember that's welded to the end if the frame rails. A bike mounted far enough out to clear the spare is a lot if leverage on those bolts. Now if you added some frame tie ins then it would probably be fine provided hitch receiver is strong. Another option would be to get some kind of aftermarket hitch but there's no guarantee it'll fit around that bumper.

Thanks Drizit, I had it on once to see what it looked like but it didn't feel right to me. Looks like I am back to using a trailer for a while.

No worries, if you get in touch with trailhead customs and tell Trevor your goal I bet he can make you a bumper that'll do exactly what you want, or modify yours to do it.
